How to Draw a Christmas Decoration – Glass and Candle

Hello my friends and welcome
to another Tuesday of tutorial! Today we will draw a glass with a Christmas decoration. We begin by doing some ovals,
for the upper and lower parts, then the sides. Then we draw the candle that
will be in it and the water level. Inside the water will also have some leaves and some little red fruits. For this, we can make some
little circles. Like this. And with the kneaded eraser,
we lighten up the pencil marks so they not will be in our way
when we begin coloring. I´m using watercolor pencils,
green for the leaves, orange and red for the fruits and a layer of brown, and then of black for the background. Good! The top part of the glass will be
of a similar tone as the background, because obviously, it is transparent. While the surface will be lighter. Now with water and a brush,
we can dissolve the pigment of the colors. Carefully, like this. We will
do it section by section. With another clean and wider
brush, we do the surface. With the water we can melt what
we want and then add more pigment with the pencils
to then, melt again. Good! This is very fun! And I hope it results in
a beautiful Christmas decoration! Let´s reinforce a little bit more
this tone, to then melt it with the water. Here we will add more as well,
and get it wet. Next, we need to give more
detail to the leaves. Some of them will be behind others
and therefore, we will do them darker. With a sharp pencil and a fine
brush, we can give detail. We may use some blue to
help us make the shadows of the red and orange. We should contrast the bottom
part of the glass, so that it doesn´t get lost. Also on the base we can do
some pretty interesting reflections using the gray and some
patterns like this. Then with the white, we
pull some lights. To give an effect of more intensity we
can dip the tip of the pencil in the water, in this way when
we apply it on the paper, it leaves a lot of thick pigment. Very good! We draw the shadow of the glass. We do some more details. With the brush we can give
some bright highlights. And it´s ready! I am Leonardo Pereznieto and
I want to wish you a Merry Christmas full of color! If you enjoyed it, please give

Merry Christmas and thanks for all these great videos. You're so nice and a great teacher……and a great Artist of course!

I want to wish you and your family a good and safe holiday season. I look forward to following your videos in the following year.

I wish I could have you with me when I'm doing art, just to intermittently say "Good!" and "This is fun!".
Merry Christmas. 🙂

I am an amatur artist and have been struggling to draw necklaces and basic jewlery for the characters I draw. Does anyone have tips on how to draw wedding rings(for women) or shark tooth necklaces?

This is incredible, and looks so realistic. I love the way you've build up the tones and the details. I love the light streaks, they look so cool.

Initially I thought your shading was the most amazing this amazing, but now i see in many of your videos a mastery of reflections and glass as well.! Amazing, thank you for showing us 🙂

Merry Christmas and happy New Year! This is another fine drawing of yours. I'd like to try to recreate it with using just graphite pencils and sticks.

I saw your book at my local book store it looked cool I buy it but I just can't learn from books that's why I never was good at school
